Additional Information

“The Zone” will be present once again for the 2015 Mardi Gras festivities!  The 7th Annual event will take place Tuesday, February 17th, from Noon-5:00pm, in the empty parking lot between the Charleston Building and the Parish Courthouse on Ryan Street.

The Zone is an area located along the main parade route that is completely alcohol and tobacco free. The event is kid-friendly and is filled with free fun activities, entertainment, and food. This year kids can play bayou games, bounce in fun jumps, ride a train, see classic cars, eat snow cones and pizza, listen to music, enter free giveaways and more!

The Zone began six years ago as a program of Project KNOW and the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, and was designed to offer a safe, yet fun environment for the community’s youth to enjoy the Mardi Gras holiday.  Since the first year the event has continued to grow, not only in attendance, but also with community support.  In 2010, the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living joined forces with Project KNOW as an event partner.
