It was just before Christmas in 1970 when, out of nowhere, this beautiful new ballad started getting play on radio stations around America. The song was Elton John's first big American hit, 'Your Song' and it went to #8 on the Billboard Charts.

Who knew that the artist who recorded that song would go on to become one of the biggest stars in music and have 58 more hits following 'Your Song.'

It's hard to remember a time when Elton John wasn't an outlandish, flamboyant personality. He's best remembered for his wild costumes and crazy glasses as much as he's remembered for his music.

Let's go back to that first hit in a performance from 1970. He was just starting out and had a chance to perform his only hit (at that time) on the BBC.

You could win a trip to Las Vegas to see Elton John. Here's all the info on that contest!
