DWI Checkpoint This Weekend

There are a lot of things going on this weekend. Mardi Gras balls, McNeese basketball games, the rodeo and the Super Bowl. There will certainly be parties. Please don't drink and drive. There will be checkpoints and this is not a jewelry accessorize you want!.

Here is the statement from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department.

In a continuing effort to keep the citizens of Calcasieu Parish safe, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a DWI checkpoint at an undisclosed location in the parish on Saturday, February 2.

This checkpoint will target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. They have proven to be very effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired and people are more likely to designate a driver when they know sobriety checkpoints are being conducted.

Louisiana State Police and Lake Charles Police Department will be participating in this checkpoint. It is funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
