It's always this time of year when I begin to notice little sugar ants coming through my kitchen and bathroom windows. No worries, there's a simple fix for those little visitors. And I don't want to spray pesticides around my home since we have little pets and baby tomatoes growing around that area that could get exposed.  So naturally, I choose a more natural approach for pest control.

There are usually two types of ants that like to visit, so you'll want to make sure you use the most effective ant killer for whichever type you have crawling around your windows. First, place a teaspoon of peanut butter on one plate and jelly on another paper plate and place on your countertop. If the ants are drawn to the peanut butter, they are likely grease ants seeking protein. If they are sugar ants, they will go for the jelly.

Here are DIY Easy Recipes for either pest. (Keep this out of reach of kids and pets.)

Sugar Ants

Mix about 2 T. jelly and 1/4 t. boric acid and watch them eat it up. Don't kill the little guys at first when you see them. Let them bring this sugary treat back to their queen, and they'll all be gone!

Grease Ants

Mix 2 T. peanut butter, 2 T. honey and
1/2 t. boric acid. Mix and serve to the ants!
