The accident between a pick up truck and a Calcasieu Parish school bus that happened yesterday morning could have been a lot worse. Luckily, the only two people injured in that senseless accident, were treated for minor injuries and released. It could have been a lot worse. Yesterday's accident could easily have been deadly.

Authorities say the driver of the pick up is suspected of texting while driving. That really brings "Distracted Driving Awareness Month" close to home.

A couple of years ago, the guys on 'Myth Busters" did a special about talking on a cell phone while driving. The results were just as you think they might be. The person just talking on the phone was so distracted, that she ran over several obstacles. Had she been paying attention, she would have easily avoided the cones in the road.

If you factor in how much of your attention is taken by texting, you've got a deadly combination.

If you text while driving, you may as well just let go of the wheel and let the car go where ever it wants because, you're not really driving. It's not a challenge to your driving skills to admit that you really can't text and be safe at the same time.

This is 'Distracted driving Awareness Month' and you can learn more about it here.
