The McNeese Cowboys will enjoy the weekend off before wrapping up the 2016 season at home with the Lamar Cardinals next Saturday evening. The Pokes go into their bye with a 5-5 record, 4-4 in the Southland Conference and will be gunning for their 12th straight winning season next week.

The McNeese offense has had an outstanding season to this point, averaging 440 yards per game led by record setting Sophmore QB James Tabary. Tabary has completed 213 passes on 386 attempts for 2801 yards. He has thrown for 22 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions. Ryan Ross has carried the ball 130 times for 579 yards to lead all rushers. 2 Cowboy receivers have caught 39 balls, Darious Crawley and Kent Shelby. Shelby has caught a pass in 23 straight games. Crawley has the most yards receiving at 619. Crawley has also scored 6 touchdowns as has Dylan Long. Gunner Raborn leads the team in scoring with 49 points on 7 field goals and 28 PATs.

On defense, Jammerio Gross leads the team in tackles with 55 along with 7.5 sacks. Ashari Goins is close behind with 54. Damion Morgan and Jermaine Antoine each have 2 interceptions.

McNeese basketball gets it's season started this weekend. Tonight at 6, the Cowboys are at number 15 Purdue. That game can be heard on 92.1 KISS-FM. The Cowgirls begin their new season under new head coach, Kacie Cryer, at Burton Coliseum on Saturday afternoon with the Louisiana-Lafayette Lady Cajuns. Tip of is at 2 and that game can be heard on Cajun Radio 1470 and 1290.
