Cowboys Return Home To Face FSA

The Cowboys head back into Cowboy Stadium this Saturday evening for a Southland Conference meeting with Stephen F Austin. The Pokes are 3-1 on the year and 2-0 in the SLC. The Cowboys are ranked 10/11 in this weeks polls. The Lumberjacks are 1-2 and 1-1 in league play. McNeese is coming off of their first loss of the season, 30-3 at BYU. SFA picked up their first win of 2018 with a 24-21 win over Abilene Christian. McNeese leads the series 20-15-2. The road team has won 5 in a row in the series.

The Cowboys continue to be at the top of the conference in a number of defensive stats. The DWA leads the SLC in scoring defense, rushing defense, and are 2nd in sacks and total defense. Linebacker B J Blunt leads the NCAA in sacks with 5. On offense, James Tabery has completed 68 passes for 815 yards. Justin Pratt has rushed for 195 yards on 47 carries. K Gunnar Raborn leads the Cowboys in scoring with 25 points.

The Lumberjacks, under first year head coach Jeff Byrd, lead the SLC in time of possession. SFA holds the ball over 33 minutes per game. The Jacks use a pair of quarterbacks led by Jake Blumrick. Foster Sawyer also sees a lot of playing time at the QB spot. Jamall Shaw leads the team in rushing with 147 yards. SFA has won the last 2 meetings in Lake Charles.
