The McNeese Cowboys begin their 75th season of football on the road Saturday afternoon in Greeley, Co. when they take on the University of Northern Colorado Bears. Kickoff is at 3:05 CST. The Cowboys finished the 2017 season at 9-2 while the Bears went 3-7. The Cowboys are ranked 17/18 in the FCS preseason polls. This will be the first meeting between the two schools. UNC is a member of the Big Sky conference.

The Pokes will rely on their Defense With Attitude again this season. The DWA led the FCS in rushing defense in 2017 giving up less than 55 yards per game. On offense, it will be the James Tabery show. The senior QB is set to move up the all time record charts in a number of categories. The offense will also rely on the Ross brothers, TE Lawyane and RB Ryan. McNeese also has a pair of seniors handling the kicking duties in PK Gunner Raborn and P Alex Kjellsten.

Northern Colorado will be loaded with seniors this season. QB Jacob Knipp and WR Alex Wesley will anchor the offense with another senior, DE Keifer Morris leading the defense for the Bears. UNC returns 9 starters on offense and 8 on defense.
