Although Houston Baptist has been a member of the Southland Conference since 2013, Saturday will be the first time McNeese has faced HBU on the football field. The Pokes are 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the SLC, while HBU is 1-2 and 0-1 in the conference. McNeese beat Alcorn State last week, 34-21. The Huskies lost to Abilene Christian 24-3.

Houston Baptist began the season losing a close game to FBS Texas State 20-11, then beat Texas Southern 24-17. But last week the Huskies could only put 3 points on the scoreboard against ACU. The HBU offense has scored 4 touchdowns in 3 games and averages just 266 yards per contest.

McNeese is lead by Jr. QB James Tabary, the SLC offensive player of the week. Tabary threw for 344 yards and 4 TDs in the Cowboy's win at Alcorn State. TE Lawayne Ross leads the SLC in receptions from the tight end position. WR Kent Shelby will look to extend his pass catching streak to 28 games on Saturday. The Cowboys are averaging 446 yards per game.

Kickoff is at 6 from Cowboy Stadium. 92.9 The Lake will carry the game beginning at 5.
