It's almost as good as Spring in Southwest Louisiana and that means that a lot of critters that we haven't seen in awhile will be coming out of hiding. Sadly, that also signals the beginning of "rabies season."

We do love our pets here in Southwest Louisiana and we do everything we can to keep them safe and healthy. Luckily, the Office of Animal Services are helping us out in that regard with drive-thru, low coast rabies clinics.

According to the state code, all dogs and cats over the age of three months must be vaccinated.

Clinic dates, time and locations are:

March 16 -- 7 a.m. – noon at Burton Coliseum Parking Lot

April 13 -- 7 a.m. – noon at Sulphur High School Parking Lot 9th Grade Campus

Vaccination and licensing rates for spayed/neutered animals is $8. Unaltered pets will cost $10.

Cats must be in a portable kennel.

Pet owners may pay by cash or check.

At the same locations, you may also have your pet micro chipped at additional cost.

Once your pet is vaccinated, they must wear the license tag at all times.
