Hollywood loves sequels, re-makes and "me too." right now, Hollywood seems to be in love with Lewis Carroll. For my money, only Disney/Pixar or Tim Burton should be allowed to tackle the works of Carroll, because it seems that they truly "get it." ABC-TV is certainly NOT one to be trusted with classic material.

Now, ABC is doing a sequel/remake/spin-off/ rewrite of  Lewis Carroll's Alice in wonderland meets ABC's own "Once Upon a Time." In this new version,  Alice has a "love interest." Wait, a 12 year old has a "love interest?" It's called "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland." Catchy huh? What network genius came up with that? But wait, there's more!

Yeah, you see, it's the old Eddie Murphy school of re-makes. Obviously the original story is flawed because no one uses the F-word and there are no sex scenes. So, we've got to have a love interest in "Alice." I'm sure the tea party scene will be something right out of Caligula.

I don't know about you, but I'm really tired of Hollywood sleaze remaking movies so that they can rewrite the story and get that much coveted "R" rating. In the new movie, Australian actress Sophie Lowe will play the role of Alice, while Peter Gadiot will play her mysterious love interest “Cyrus.” ‘Being Human’ star Michael Socha also joins as the Knave of Hearts from the classic tale, with Emma Rigby as the Red Queen. ‘Once’ writer/producer Jane Espenson, ‘Zero Hour’s’ Zack Estrin and Steve Pearlman will shoot a teaser presentation in the coming weeks, and a full pilot in late July or August if it moves forward.

Who will play the White Rabbit? Why, Paul "Pee Wee Herman" Rubin, of course!

The odds of this program making it are great since this is what network TV is all about.
