Tom Mabe is a stand up comic and, I don't know about you, but I've never heard of him. Still, he did come up with a pretty cool Halloween gimmick, and we just happen to have a video of it.

Tom took a department store dummy of a small boy, dressed it in a Halloween costume and went out to rustle up some candy in the neighborhood. Now, Tom had to explain why the "kid" didn't say, "Trick or Treat" or anything like that. He told the unsuspecting candy distributors that he was deaf, and that seemed to mollify the first lady in the video, but Tom wasn't just out pulling a scam. He wanted to make people laugh, so after getting candy at the second house, he just picked up the dummy and walked away. The lady with the candy actually seemed kind of cool with it.

Of course, there's always the unforeseen, and in this case, it's in the form of a guy who knows sign language. Something tells me that this part of the video was staged, but what the heck; it's still a great Halloween idea.
