For 30 years now, the folks with Kiwanis have been seeing to it that kids have warm coats for Christmas. Each year, donations grow by leaps and bounds. It would be very nice if we could make this the Kiwanis' best year yet. The site for this year's big "Coats for Kids Spooktacular will be Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. at Crying Eagle Brewery.

The concept is simple: just take a coat to Crying Eagle this Saturday, and get a free beer glass and a raffle ticket for some great prizes. The party itself will feature some great specialty beers, as well as gumbo and all the fixings will be available for purchase.

Now, if for some reason you can't make it to the Coats for Kids kick-off party, there will be other locations to donate to this very worthy cause. Each year, the Kiwanis distributes coats for kids to local agencies like: Potters House, Harbor House, The Lord’s Place, Boys Village, Oasis Women’s Shelter, Solomon’s Porch, Abraham’s Tent, Care Help of Sulphur, DeWanna's Community Closet, and CPSB Title 10-Assistance to Homeless Children.

The Crying Eagle Brewing Company is located at 1165 E. McNeese St., Lake Charles, LA. For more info, contact Steve Ek at 337-474-1622.
