City of DeRidder Disappointed They Can’t Dig Deeper into Your Pockets

While online retailers like the gigantic Amazon now routinely collect sales taxes on various objects in different jurisdictions – the DeRidder City Council figures it still ain’t enough.  The council just recently demanded the mayor send a proclamation to state leaders to let them know that the council is disappointed that more state sales taxes aren’t being collected from online vendors.

On the other hand, most people shop online in the first place in an effort to save a little here and there were they can, not having to pay sales tax is one of the attractions of the click-click-click age we find ourselves living in.

Seems like the minute you get elected to public office, you suddenly can’t get your hand deep enough into ev’body else’s pockets.

Circus Closing - The Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus is closing after 146 years of operation.  The circus is the country's second biggest employer of clowns, the first being Congress.
