Southwest Louisiana Christmas Parades, Nov. 30-Dec. 8

 

Calcasieu Parish (November 15, 2012)—A Cajun Christmas in Southwest Louisiana includes a variety of holiday parades beginning Friday, Nov. 30, and running through Saturday, Dec. 8. The excitement kicks off as the city of DeQuincy holds their parade on Friday, Nov. 30. The DeQuincy Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by Christmas in the Park at 6:30 p.m. and fireworks at 7:30 p.m.

 

Stay in the holiday spirit with three more Christmas parades on Saturday, Dec. 1. The Starks Christmas Parade begins at 2 p.m. The parade will end at the Starks VFW 4759 where everyone can enjoy a Christmas gumbo.

 

The Light Up The Lake Christmas Lighting Festival street parade in downtown Lake Charles will also take place December 1 at 2 p.m. beginning at the Lake Charles Civic Center.  Stick around to enjoy other free activities for the whole family and the Lighted Boat Parade at the seawall at 6:30 p.m. topped off by fireworks at 8 p.m.

 

Sulphur’s Kiwanis Christmas Balloons on Parade begins at 3 p.m. on December 1.  Giant, colorful balloons and floats will proceed down Cypress Street coinciding with the Christmas Under the Oaks Festival and Holiday House.

 

The jammed pack weekends don’t end there. The parade in downtown Vinton will begin on Friday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. followed by family friendly activities, a jambalaya dinner, and a visit from Old St. Nicholas. Donate canned goods for free admission. On Saturday, Dec. 8, Iowa’s Christmas Parade begins at 2 p.m. followed by Christmas in the Park at Lawrence Toups Memorial Park Pavilion at 6 p.m. with gumbo, cookies, choirs and Santa Claus.

 

The Moss Bluff Christmas Parade rolls through downtown Moss Bluff December 8 at 2 p.m.

 

The West Cal Kiwanis Christmas Parade ends the holiday parade season with its parade through downtown Westlake at 4 p.m. on December 8.  At the end of the parade, a tree lighting ceremony with Santa will be held at City Hall.
