The Corvette. It's been an icon, of sorts, since Martin Milner and George Maharis drove one all over creation in the 1060's TV series "Route 66."

It was every young man's dream to get a "Vette" and go discover America just like Tod and Buz. I guess it still is, even though a number of "Vette" owners are female and even more have never even heard of the now classic TV show, "Route 66."

This past weekend, Chevrolet rolled out the all new Corvette for 2014--And, here it is:

Unveiled on January 13th at the North American International Auto Show, the new Corvette has really changed it's lines. Under the hood, the new 'Vette features a  6.2-liter small-block V-8 with 450 horsepower takes the car from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds. That’s at least a few tenths of a second faster than the current base model.

Chevy engineers say they had some tough standards to live up to, but the biggest challenge was that of MPG. While nobody expects a Corvette to be a super saver on gas, folks at Chevy did want improved gas mileage to meet new government standards. According to Chevy, some drivers make actually get up to 30 MPG from the model. That's quite an improvement from the 16 MPG of the 2013 base model!

Chevy's is also not releasing information on the sticker price for the new model, but a 2013 goes for about $49,500.

Cool! Let's see now, Tod (Martin Milner) is 81

and Buz (George Maharis) is 84.

Is that too old to hit the road again?
