The "Catch a Concert" series, the annual series of free concerts by the Lake Charles Community band will conclude for the season this Monday when the band will present a special program of music called "Forgotten Wars." The band will be performing patriotic songs that America sang during World War II and even the Civil War.

The program will feature some very old songs like "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" from the Civil War era and standards like "America the Beautiful. To help on for the evening, the band's special guests will be the Louisiana Choral Foundation. By the way, there is a very good chance of rain on Monday and the concert will most likely be indoors at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

The Catch a Concert will naturally lead into the city of :Lake Charles' big 4th of July celebration, "Red, White, Blue and You." The Red, White, Blue and You will, once again, feature a free concert by the Lake Charles Community Band. In addition to the Community Band concert there will be activities in and around the civic center all day.

The Red, White, Blue and You parade will start at 6 p.m. and roll from Mill Street to Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive. The parade will be followed by the Lake Charles Community Band and Louisiana Choral Foundation patriotic concert that will include a salute to the Armed Forces.

Now a celebration isn't complete without food and you'll find a variety of food vendors to satisfy your "festival food" cravings. The kids will love the face painting and everyone gets a complimentary flag.

Of course the capper of the event will be the Fireworks Spectacular just after sundown. By the way, as usual, you can hear the official soundtrack to those fireworks on 92-9 The Lake
