If you think the stiletto heels on designer shoes are high, you should see the price!  Industry experts say the average price of high-end shoes has skyrocketed recently, from around $400 to nearly $800.  And while that may sound like good news for retailers, upscale department store Barneys is concerned the price hike could mean they lose customers.  So why the increase?  Fluctuating exchange rates, as well as the rising cost of raw materials, might be to blame.  But don’t expect prices to drop- luxury brands are all about appealing to the high-class shopper, and well-heeled consumers have shown they’re perfectly happy to drop hundreds or even thousands on the current “it” shoe or bag.  And you thought we were talking about the price of cars.
