Best States for Retirement — Louisiana Ranks #2

Remember when every poll that ever came out ranked Louisiana as the "worst" this or the "worst" that? Have you noticed over the past few years that Louisiana is beginning to be ranked among the "best" in all these polls?

Now, we've been ranked among the top places to retire.

Bankrate.com has created a list of the 10 best states to retire and if you think Florida is anywhere to be seen, you are more off-base than you would be in suggesting you skip the early bird special.

Tennessee took the top spot, courtesy of a cost of living that ranks second-lowest in country. It’s also home to good medical care, while also possessing good weather. The downside to the Volunteer State? It has a pretty terrible crime rate.

Bankrate create its rankings by looking into a variety of factors, including “access to medical care, cost of living, local crime rates, state and local taxes -- as well as climate.”
