In honor of Mother’s Day yesterday, MSNBC has listed the five best and worst TV moms currently running the show:

The Best:

1. Marge Simpson (Julie Kavner, “The Simpsons”) – Words to live by: “The way I see it, if you can raise three

2. Tami Taylor (Connie Britton, “Friday Night Lights”) – Words to live by: “The big deal is it’s part of my job to make sure that you don’t grow up stupid. It’s bad for the world.”

3. Alicia Florrick (Julianna Marguiles, “The Good Wife”) – Words to live by: “You don’t supervise my kids spontaneously. You don’t take them to prison. You don’t just try and phone me. You phone me. You respect me as a mother or you leave!”

4. Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman, “Desperate Housewives”) – Words to live by: “If any of you acts up, so help me, I will call Santa and tell him you want socks for Christmas! Are you willing to risk that?”

5. The Worst:

4. Lucy Carlyle (Bijou Phillips, “Raising Hope”) – Words to live by: Nothing, really – Lucy was a serial killer who was executed in the second episode.

5. Tara Gregson (Toni Collette, “United States of Tara”) Words to live by: “Kate, I know you aren’t fond of me, but I’m concerned about your development as a young woman, just like your mother. You’re promiscuous. You aren’t guarding your flower.”
