When it comes to our kids, we always want to err on the side of caution and that's exactly what happened yesterday at E.K. Key Elementary.

Once investigated, the situation presented no danger to kids, but the report of a man with a gun near the school caused everyone to go into protection mode.

It seems that a 30 year old man was shooting at tin cans in his backyard and that's what caused the folks at E.K. Key to go into emergency mode and order a lock down.

Kirby Smith, public information officer for the Calcasieu Parish School Board,  said parents were notified of the lockdown through the school messenger alert system, and the all-clear was given by 11:42 a.m.

Sulphur Police spokesman Mel Estess says the man was cited in connection with the incident.
