Barbe is no stranger to winning baseball. this marks their 7th time to take the 5A State Championship.

 

Barbe beat Live Oak 7-1 in the Class 5A finale Saturday night to capture the state baseball crown for the 7th time in school history. The non-stop Bucs won 27 games in row on their way to the top spot.

Barbe has a long history with the championship games taking home the trophy in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2008 and 2012. The Bucs finished as runner-up in 1999 and 2002.

 

Two other Southwest Louisiana teams to won a state title's over the weekend.

In Class 2A, Kinder beat Catholic-New Iberia for its first baseball title while Fairview edged Glenmora in the Class B finale for its first baseball crown.
