When I first got wind of this story, I heard that a "lone gunman" had been terrorizing people at Billy Navarre. It really sounded like we had a potential terror threat going on and that's how everyone was talking about it. Once the rumor mill died down and we were able to get some details thanks to KPLC, it turn out to be nothing more than a domestic disputer that got way out of hand. thank goodness!!

The Lake Charles Police Department has released the name of the man suspected of firing shots on Arkansas Street following a domestic dispute Monday afternoon.

Police have arrested 35-year-old Wilton Sylvester, said Deputy Chief Mark Kraus.

He was arrested on the following charges: Resisting an officer, illegal use of a weapon, illegal carrying of a weapon by a convicted felon, contempt of court, possession or marijuana, and possession of schedule II and III drugs with intent to distribute.

Sylvester was found hiding under a house nearby. Officers negotiated with him to come out. No one was injured in the shooting.

After a tense afternoon in which Arkansas Street was shut down around 1 p.m., the scene has mostly been cleared as of 4:15 p.m.
