A Sulphur man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened on W. Houston River Road Saturday night.

Authorities with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office say Michael A. Fontenot Jr., 23, shot the man in the leg and the arm.

Fontenot is charged with three counts of attempted second-degree murder.

The sheriff's office received a call of a shooting at 10 p.m. Saturday, said spokeswoman Kim Myers. Deputies found the victim with wounds in his leg and arm.

The shooting happened following an argument between Fontenot and the other man during the day Saturday, Myers said. When the other woman was leaving the property later that night, Fontenot got a shotgun and fired it four times at the victim, hitting him twice – once in the leg and once in the arm. He also hit a pickup truck, in which two people were sitting.

The victim was treated and released at a local hospital.

Fontenot also faces a charge of aggravated criminal damage to property. Judge Ron Ware set bond at $30,000.
