Are DWI Checkpoints Effective or Harassment?

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department did a DWI checkpoint last week in Westlake. We did a story on the results of this checkpoint and it got this response on facebook.

These checkpoints are funded by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission who believe that they deter impaired drivers from getting on the roads. The point is not to bust a bunch of people for DWI.
