In America, if you wanted so see your favorite artist perform, it was Hullabaloo or Shindig. In Britain, the place to go was "Top of the Pops."

The Beatles decided they were bored with just going out and performing their songs so, they shot some footage in the studio on Abbey Road and released it as a way to perform "Lady Madonna" on "Top of the Pops."

It was cool and a relatively new idea. The Beatles didn't exactly invent the "Rock Video" but, it was typical of them to do something different.

Travel back with us to March 14, 1966 and see the "Lady Madonna" video from "Top of the Pops"

By the way, legend has it that the Beatles were actually recording "Hey, Bulldog" when this was shot!
