It's about that time of year again for all adults to grab hands and collectively rout kids' teeth with tons of sugary candy.  I mean come on, their gonna loose those teeth anyway...right?

I've always been a big dude, so you know I love me some Halloween!

Start thinking of your favorite candies as a child and the ones that you totally marked out for when you saw them in your candy bag, and later will talk about the top candies being handed out this year for Louisiana and all 50 states!

Here's my top 5 candies to get in my bag when I was a kid:

  1. Snickers
  2. Skittles
  3. Baby Ruth's
  4. Gummy bears/worms
  5. Starbursts

Here's some quick candy facts:

  • 179 million Americans celebrate Halloween
  • Nearly 1/4 of all Halloween purchases are made online
  • Among those who celebrate Halloween, 95% will purchase candy
  • They will spend about $27 on average
  • In Oregon, full-sized candy bars are the norm for trick-or-treaters to receive
  • Over 50% of parents stash some Halloween candy to enjoy later in the year

According to candystore.com, the number 1 candy given out during Halloween in Louisiana are Lemonheads followed by Reece's Cups and Blowpops.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never seen more than 1 or 2 small Lemonhead boxes in my kids' candy when I'm making a midnight raid in their rooms like a ninja.

You would think the number 1 candy would be those little crappy peanut butter wannabe candies in the orange and black wrappers.  Let me stop for a Public Service Announcement here, please do all the kids in SWLA a favor and pass up the urge to buy these candies.  Look, I know they come by the thousands in a bag for 3 bucks, but don't ruin a kid's Halloween candy fantasies just to purchase some candy that not even a dog would eat.

They say, "everything's better in Texas", and apparently that's true when it comes to candy.  You might want to hop in the car this year and take a trip to Orange or Beaumont to trick-or-treat this year.

Texas' top 3 candies their giving out for Halloween:

  1. Reece's Cups
  2. Starbursts
  3. Almond Joys
